|Michael E. Allex, AIA
|| Mr. Allex was born and raised in Harlingen. After graduating from Harlingen High School, he attended Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor’s
Degree in Architecture (Design Specialization). For 3 years, he fulfilled his internship requirements while working for 2 architectural firms in Dallas.
Shortly after, he received his license and moved back to Harlingen with his wife, Jodie. In ’92 he joined Rike-Ogden-Figueroa Architects and three years
later was elevated to Principal. For 22 years, Mike has been a principal in the firm that now bears his name (ROFA Architects, Inc.)
With offices in McAllen and Harlingen, ROFA Architects services educational, municipal, county, religious, industrial and commercial clients. Mr. Allex
manages the Harlingen office. In that capacity, he has served as Principal-in-Charge, Architect and Project Manager of projects for Harlingen CISD,
Brownsville ISD, Marine Military Academy, The City of La Feria, First Community Bank, Texas Regional Bank, The Town of South Padre Island, The City of
Harlingen, Cameron County and The Diocese of Brownsville.
His Harlingen Chamber involvement includes:
a) Ambassadors Club – Past Treasurer
b) 2009 Membership Drive - Committee Member
c) Graduate of Leadership Harlingen - 1995
d) Past Speaker/ Facilitator for Leadership Harlingen
e) Pro-bono design services for Harlingen Gateway Signs on Expressway and Airport Drive
His community involvement includes:
a) Harlingen Construction Boards of Adjustments and Appeals – Chairman
b) Harlingen Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals- Past Chairman and Current Vice Chairman
c) Lower Rio Grande Valley American Institute of Architects – Past President
d) Boy Scouts of America, Arroyo Council – Past District Commissioner
e) Jackson Street Jubilee – Past Co. Chairman
f) Texas Architect Magazine Publication Committee – Current Contributing Editor
g) Texas Society of Architects – Honors Committee Member
Mike has been married to this wife (Jodie) for 26 years and they have two sons (Charles 21 and Cole 18).
